Rescue Me ID: 15-05-26-00462Theo (male)
Theo is a 7 year old Golden Retriever -Great Pyrenees mix. We have had him for 4 years. We found him at a shelter. We are very sad to consider losing Theo, but since we got him our lives have changed dramatically, and he's simply not getting the attention and love he deserves. We will only give Theo away to a family we feel will take great care of him. Here is a brief description of Theo: 112 lbs. He's protective, and has gotten more so since our kids were born. He will bark when someone approaches our house but will stop when we tell him, 'it's ok.' He's fairly high energy for a big dog. He needs a large yard and a daily walk. He's very smart and well-trained, but he responds best to an alpha-male figure. For example, he knows he's only allowed in certain rooms in our house and will not enter the rooms that are off-limits even though they're accessible to him. This site is not letting me upload pictures, so please email me if you would like to see pictures. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-20-00590Buddy (male)
Hi! My name is Buddy and I am a handsome male Golden Retriever mix. I weigh about 70 pounds. Farm living is definitely the life for me, land spreading out far and wide. Keep Seattle, just give me that open countryside. I am a very good boy. I am perfect in the house, housebroken and well behaved. I just don't want to be cooped up all day with city living. Life on a leash is not for me. I need to run free. I'm very athletic and love to run, so need strong, secure fencing to keep me from exploring too far. I love to run and play fetch. Since I was abandoned and left alone I am a little on the thin side, but am eating well and gaining weight. I'll likely put on several more pounds now that I'm being fed and exercised regularly. I prefer a grain free diet since I do have some skin issues and like being spoiled with medicated baths. I should also tell you I need to be on flea medicine all year. I'm allergic to fleas and if one bites me I get all itchy and chew until I get hot spots. I'm looking for a forever home that will appreciate and welcome all the love and kisses I have to give. I do need a good mix of relaxation and exercise. I can be selective about male dogs, but having a fur sister to run around with would be great. I will am neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on all my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $275. If you think you might have the right home for me, please visit the Valhalla Canine Rescue website at www.valhallarescue.org/ourdogs/adoptable and fill out an adoption application. My adoption fee allows Valhalla Rescue to continue to provide care and medical treatment (including spay/neuter services) for dogs like me while we look for our forever homes. This fee also helps cover the ongoing costs of caring for less adoptable dogs who require longer stays in the shelter, or more advanced medical treatment before finding their forever homes. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING A VALHALLA RESCUE DOG! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-04-00595Chester (male)
Sweet Chester!! This 8ish yr young, 55lb boy was surrendered by his lifetime owner - because he kept jumping the 4 foot fence to go visit the children in the neighborhood... he loves kids!! But please note that we have had no fence jumping issues -- we think Chester was just desperately lonely and bored. Chester is a wonderful boy with plenty of energy for hiking, camping, walking or just hanging out around the house. He's a very well mannered guy with a very calm demeanor. He's lived most of his life outdoors but is learning very quickly that indoor living is the best! He gets along with most dogs... except for the young unruly ones! He's a very respectful dog and expects others to be the same! Chester will thrive in a home that can give him the love and attention he so craves. He's absolutely fine just hanging out in the yard by himself, but he's the happiest when he can be with his people. Chester is pictured here with his buddy George. We believe Chester is a Finnish Spitz mix, but I put Golden here because Finish Spitz is not one of the breeds listed on Rescue Me -- and I'm hoping someone interested in a Golden will notice him and fall in love. This is a great family dog! (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
