Rescue Me ID: 18-06-07-00027Haru (male)

Golden Retriever    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Haru is a very lovable pup. Unfortunately, one of our family members has developed allergies and we can't keep him any longer. Haru has learned commands such as sit, down, and paw. He still has to go through more training, particularly outside because he tends to get distracted :') but he's an amazing and loving dog who loves belly rubs, long walks, and loves being with people. He needs to keep his eyes on you at all times inside the house. :) He is not an outdoors-only dog, and we are looking for a loving, good home for him. We can discuss shipping, but we prefer to meet you. Haru is not AKC certified, we actually adopted him from someone ... (Read More)else who failed to give us proper certification, unfortunately. He also is not neutered, as is listed. Price is non-negotiable. Please contact me via email or phone. Thank you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-05-19-00218Smokey (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our Smokey came to us without high expectations of anything positive coming his way. We rescued him from NC where he lived in an outside pen all his life and had all kinds of medical situations going on. The biggest challenge we faced was his heartworms and his bad heart. We really didn't know what to do, so we scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist to see where we start, or could we start. she saw all his films and vet records that from 2015, where he was 1st diagnosed with heartworms. He was never treated for them. He was tested again in Dec of 2017 and was positive. His films were terrible, he had a slightly enlarged heart and a ... (Read More)heart murmur, things just looked all wrong there. The echocardiogram was not showing the Dr. what she thought she would see, so she tested him 4DX and not only was he heartworm negative, they tested again and couldn't even find microfilaria and the adults were all gone. She sits down and says, I am going to just lay this out on the table the best way that I can. Not only is he heartworm negative but this very healthy boy seems to have outlived his heartworms. He has a grade 2 heart murmur because of it, and he needs to be tested with a heated hw test in 6 months, but other than that he is very ready to be adopted. This amazing, and very handsome boy outlived his heartworms without any treatment at all (3 Smokey is a very lovable boy that is learning how to live in a house. He loves toys, and yes, he is available for adoption and not hospice (3 Smokey is being fostered in VA Beach if you would like to meet him (3 (Less)

Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
