Rescue Me ID: 17-10-13-00461Joey (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Joey. I am a lab mix, maybe with golden retriever, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm pretty high energy, but I'm only around 2 years old. I weigh 57 lbs, so I'm the perfect medium/large size. I'm good around other dogs, but definitely better with the ladies. I know how to sit and I'm super smart. I really love food and treats! I will do anything you ask if I can have a treat! I am in a foster home and I am crate trained. I need an active person or family that will take me on walks or runs or I will need a fenced yard so that I can run and frolic when I feel the urge. I'm very friendly and I sometimes jump up to get ... (Read More)attention, so I need some basic training and small kids might not be the best for me until then. With these brains though and the right person or family I know that I will catch on quickly! I am pretty handsome as well, if I do say so myself! If you would like to meet me and see if I'm the right fit for you, apply today at! My adoption fee is $185.00 I am spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, kept on heartworm preventative and micro-chipped prior to adoption. In order to meet or adopt me, please complete the online application at An application and home visit/meet & greet are required. A RARE representative (normally the President and/or foster parent(s) will bring the animal of interest to the home in order to ensure the right fit, perform meet & greet and answer any questions, go over vaccination and other vet paperwork etc.. An adoption trial may commence at that time, if RARE and potential adopter(s) are in agreement. Please complete the application on our website and we will call you to explain the adoption process in more detail and answer any questions you may have. *If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 4 hours driving distance due to limited resources and difficulty ensuring the right match, especially if there are already animals in the home. **All of our pets are, or will be, spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Our adoption fees not only help the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heart-worm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need to be made available for adoption. Thank you for choosing to adopt, foster, or aid in the rescue efforts of RARE! *****AN APPLICATION AND HOME VISIT ARE REQUIRED***** Please visit for foster and adoption applications or for additional information. Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet sweet Gracie, she's a 1-2 yr old Aussie/golden mix. When she came in she was in such bad shape she couldn't even stand up. She was heart worm positive and had a leg injury. With lots of tlc, rest, and heartworm treatment she's now doing great. She's full of energy. She's a vocal player. She had to be on kennel rest but final got the all clear to play and have regular activity. We do separate her to feed her since she was so starved. If you'd like to meet this amazing girl just email us. She's been spayed, utd on vaccinations, been treated for heart worms, and on prevention. You can fill out a free application on her in our website. ... (Read More) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00055Benny (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Benny and I am a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. I was found as a stray and I think I am about 4 yrs. old. I am now current on all my shots and have been neutered. I am your typical Great Pyrenees and seem to get along with everyone but I don't appreciate other dogs charging up at me. I love, love people and I just want to hang with them. It appears that at some time in my past I may have been hit by a car, which resulted in a broken back, left leg. Even though no one took me to the vet, my leg did heal, but in an 'wonky' fashion. Now, don't let this stop you from adopting me because it doesn't stop me from doing ... (Read More)everything I want to do. In short I would love an active family because I love to play. I don't like crates at all but I am good with the run of the house; I didn't make a mess so you can count me house trained! If you have a window where I can look outside that would be wonderful...I love to look outside. Oh yes a couple of other things....I require a fenced in yard because I love to run and run and investigate everything. I need to be the only dog and no cats! Basically, I am a people lover and love life! Currently, I am only taking Glucosamine tablets daily. It's just a minor thing, so let's get going...I am ready to go home with you and be your fur- buddy! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in Tennessee
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
