Rescue Me ID: 14-07-15-00240Rascal (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rascal was a stray that I found in my neighborhood. He was very skittish and it took a couple of weeks to get him to trust me enough to bring him inside. I found him in March and by April, no one had responded to my efforts to find his home. He was malnourished when I found him. I took him to the vet in April and he is currently up to date with no health concerns. He is very friendly, house trained, knows some commands, and redirectable. However, he does have some jealousy issues with other pets. He needs a forever home where he can be the only pet.

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-22-00271Ellie with Peanut (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

All about me! Name: Ellie Breed: golden retrieve/chow/mix Age: est 4 years Height: est 22 inches Weight: about 45 lbs Good with dogs? yes Good with men? loves 'em Good with women? loves 'em House trained? yes Crate trained? no Leash trained? working on it Must have fenced in yard? yes Foster home is: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Adoption fee: $125.00 Date into rescue: 2/19/13 Why am I with a rescue group? Ellie was an owner surrender, and is closely bonded with Peanut. Their ideal home would be on a farm, as they love to run with the horses and curl up in hay. They are both house trained but really love the outdoors. How I ... (Read More)act when I first meet new people: They both need someone who has the time and willingness to work with them. Elllie and Peanut were feral when they came to us. If you wonder what I mean by 'came to us', it means they literally showed up on our doorstep one day from the woods and never left. They are still timid around new people, but once they trust you they love you forever. It's been fun to see their progress together. If one doesn't trust you, the other won't either. They are as bonded as bonded can get. But they both have many perks to them. Ellie is a very sweet girl, she loves to play. She can out play anyone! The only one that can keep up with those two are themselves. They both love toys, and belly rubs :) They also love attention from people. We can pick Peanut up now, without him freaking out. Peanut loves beds, which at first Ellie did not. But now she will lay on anything you put out for her. Peanut ususally puts Ellie on the smaller dog bed, while he takes the big one. Peanut will chase and play with anything you throw his way. He does have a bad habit of chewing, but being in the wilderness all of his life he never got bored. Always on the move. So given the right situation where he won't get bored, the habit will be easy to break. These two deserve a chance at a normal life, although they may never be perfect, who is? Please note - we do not ship dogs. PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in South Carolina
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
