Rescue Me ID: 16-10-19-00259Nikki (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Puppy

Date into Rescue: 10/1/2016 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender/owner moving Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 47 lbs Height: est 22' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Energetic home that enjoys being outdoors. What is my personality like? Nikki is your average happy-go-lucky gal along with her lab personality. She loves to chew on tennis balls, and thoroughly enjoys playing. She is energetic but she also knows when to be quiet and calm. Nikki would do best in a home that could give her attention and play dates ... (Read More)outdoors! She is a social butterfly and loves every adult and dog she has came in contact with so far. She is learning how to sit and is doing exceptionally well. Although, She does tend to jump fences so she may need a high fence to prevent her from jumping. How I act when I first meet new people: People and friendly. Nikki has never met a stranger and will immediately ask for a belly rub. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated 1 year old, est birthdate 9/12/2015 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-05-00232Chase (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Chase is a great dog. We adopted him when he was about 9 months old. His prior home as a pup, we feel, was not real kind to him. He is anxious and has trouble relaxing when others are out walking their dogs and therefore we get complaints. A fenced yard would be perfect for him. We have children and one other dog and cat and have had no problems with Chase interacting. We have him separated from our other dog most times and he has been trained on an electric fence. He loves to fetch and play. We feel he would do best with a family without a lot of neighborhood activity around him. A family who could spend more time with him. He obeys ... (Read More)simple commands of sit and lay down. I chose not good with other dogs above because he gets anxious and somewhat aggressive when other dogs are walking by with owners. We hope he can be adopted into a good home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-30-00499Valentine (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Valentine was adopted with his litter mate Tanner in Febuary 2013. She and her sister were very important parts of our lives. In the intervening years however much has changed including the status of our family adding children and our overall general state of health. She is very friendly and loves giving love to us and our 2 year old son. She enjoys going for walks, belly rubs and bones to chew on more than anything. She has missed her shots from this year but was current prior to that. When it comes to play with Tanner she's normally the more reserved of the two...until the cold weather comes around. Then she becomes hyper-active around ... (Read More)him. That's when we refer to her as Muscles. But our time is consumed by our son, our jobs and the desire to move from this area. All things that are taking time from them and we can see it in their faces as they wait patiently by the backdoor watching us. She spent the first year of her life inside the house and had good house manners - no sitting on the furniture, (but laying on our feet), eating in her designated spot and going to the patio door when she needed to go out. Unlike her brother who seemed to be a bottomless pit when it came to eating, Valentine will walk away from food when she's had enough. Her thing seems to be chewing. The downside is that when she comes back Tanner will have finished it off. While we'd ideally like her to find a new home to share with Tanner its understandable if they must be separated. (Less)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults

Tanner was adopted with his litter mate Valentine in Febuary 2013. He and his sister were very important parts of our lives. In the intervening years however much has changed including the status of our family adding children and our overall general state of health. He is very friendly and loves giving love to us and our 2 year old son. He has hip dysplasia which prevents him from going on long walks but he's more than okay with several mile long walks during the week. Honestly he'd probably love to go more often and every now and then has had no problem with a 1.5 mile walk. He has missed his shots from this year but was current prior to ... (Read More)that. He will be adopted with one year of heartworm preventative to his adopter. Weight: about 55 lbs needs to be 65 Height: about 25' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, or a very good exercise plan that takes his heartworms into consideration and a plan to stimuate his brain regularly. Tanner is a smart quick learner, and a regular training program would be a great way to positively channel his energy without ... (Read More)overexerting his heart. He already knows the sit and down command! What kind of home would be best for me? Tanner would prefer an only dog home. He is a very people oriented dog and wants your full attention! Tanner would love a home on a farm with room to roam and explore, chase a few chickens, and bark at some cows. He is an active dog that likes to be entertained. He likes a good game of chase and its funny to watch his lanky self run goofily around the yard. He loves hard chews like cow hooves or bones, and they keep him busy for hours. What is my personality like? Wide open and happy How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly and affectionate House trained? PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in South Carolina
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
