Date into Rescue: 10/16/2015 Reason for being in rescue: divorce Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Weight: 68 lbs Height: about 22 inches at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $299 with Maddie. Please don't ask to split us up. We love each other and have been together since Maddie was a baby. We've already lost our family. Don't send us away from each other. Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? A lovable home that will let me and Maddie buddy around together forever What is my personality like? Friendly, affectionate and everything good about goldens. Sam loves the world and everyone loves him too! He is great with people of all ages and backgrounds. He is affectionate, intelligent and very eager to bond with someone. He will whimper when you leave him and wag when you greet him! Sam appears to be house trained and will ask to go outside when he needs to potty. He walks nicely on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Sam loves to curl up with Maddie on a big dog bed. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Birthdate 03/02/2007 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. My wife and I have raised some smaller breed dogs in our lifetime such as our cocker spaniel who passed last summer. But we had some friends whose pure golden retriever and pure German Shepherd had puppies last fall. And, so we took a chance on a larger breed dog even though we have young kids and a very small piece of property in a cul-de-sac neighborhood. We unfortunately think that we need to find Emmett a family who can take care of him better than we can. He is pretty high energy and he probably needs a home with a much larger yard and maybe with other dogs. He is fairly well trained- he will sit and lie down on command and he will come on command and he can shake hands. The retriever in him makes him a bit mouthy, meaning that he wants to chew on something constantly or hold your hand or arms in his mouth, haha. I have been working with him a bunch on this. He has grown up with a cat and he and the cat wrestle and play together all the time but he recently did cut the cats left front paw which required three stitches. I believe thiz was an accident bc he is never aggressive, and the cat is as much the instigator if not more so. He is just too big for our two kids and too much energy for them and a little too rough with them. It's nust his size, he is 80 lounds, my kids are 60 pounds and 30 pounds, 8 and 5 years old. He has never bitten anyone and he is not aggressive at all and gets along with almost all other dogs. He is unfortunately stuck in our house indoors 90 percent of the time and it is really not what he needs. And unfortunately we can't leave him out during the day when we go to work because he is very mouthy and he will destroy something if he is left alone long enough. We gave it a year, and we never thought we would be a family to give up an an animal, so it .akes us feel terrible, however it probably is better for him to find some space and some familtly to really put some love into him. He is really pretty and I will load pictures soon, but he looks just like a golden with a longer face, and he is super strong and fast. Has caught a bird or two mid flight and has grabbed at east one chipmunk that I know of. Call with any questions. Thanks (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
