|Rescue Me ID: 18-05-27-00329Newton (male)|
-Courtesy listing- Newton is a gorgeous, pure chocolate, charismatic, approx. 80 lb retriever (either lab, golden or flat-coated) mix with something upright-eared and dense-coated, maybe Chow? He is not over about 3 and has been good with people and most dogs, although he will alarm bark from the kennel to strangers, but settles fine once introduced. He does perk up at birds and critters so may not be good with cats, but has not been tested. He has energy but calms down just fine and would LOVE a family of his own.

|Rescue Me ID: 18-05-18-00036Lincoln (male)|
He loves walks and chewing on bones and lounging in a fenced yard. He needs a home with Chow Chow experience. Loves his people, wary of strangers, but with enough patience and good owners, he could be a good family dog (no kids under 12). When he is feeling safe/confident, he's really laid back. Nervous/scared of other dogs, though how he reacts to them depends a lot on how they react to him initially. We've seen him interact just fine with dogs who are laid back and don't mind any kind of dog. But if the dog or person even makes the first move he will defend himself, especially on leash. We've seen though that his true reaction is to run away from any kind of conflict, so we know he's not aggressive as he's been labeled, making it difficult to adopt him out and puts him at risk of being euthanized (he was already rescued from euthanasia once). He just needs a second chance at life. Lincoln really is a sweet, charming boy who loves his people. Please save this fluffy love. (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
