Rescue Me ID: 18-01-02-00351Summer (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Summer is looking for a forever home! She is well tempered and loving, gets along with most dogs, people and cats. She is good on a leash in addition to being house and kennel trained. She looks like a white German Shepherd but with golden coloring. She is large at about 75 lbs. She loves to chase squirrels in our back yard and play with other dogs. We are re-homing her because she and one of our other dogs no longer get along. In addition, Summer eats feces and we are unable keep a close enough eye on her while she is outdoors to prevent this. She doesn't eat poop out of hunger (she is fed twice a day), but instead we think it's a habit she ... (Read More)learned at the shelter where we found her as a puppy. She is close to three years old, but has started to show signs of arthritis and has a prescription for Rimadyl which allows her to be a playful dog. We will not ship her, but serious new parents can arrange to meet her and take her home. We request a donation fee to Rescue Me to ensure the new owner can provide for her well being. She comes with her bed and kennel if new owner prefers. (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Oklahoma if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
