Rescue Me ID: 16-08-04-00649ZuZu (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Thank you for taking a moment to learn about ZuZu and why she is need of finding a new family to be apart of. ZuZu is being relocated for two reasons. The first is although we have been caring for ZuZu now for 6 yrs . our home truly isn't the best fit for her and I am okay with being honest about that. ZuZu came to us at about 3 mos., she , her brother and Father were dumped at our home. Which was very common because of where I live. However, this pack of 3 was so traumatized when they showed up at my door in the wee hours of the morning, I couldn't bring myself to call the dog warden. I have worked in rescue in the past and thought I would ... (Read More)be able to find each of them forever homes. I was able to place their Father, but the two pups as cute as they were, no such luck. So they joined our family and pack waiting for the right homes which never came until last Fall when I was able to finally place ZuZu's brother with an amazing man and her Brother is thriving in his new home. I am hoping to find this for ZuZu too, as she is a dog that really could use a home that best fits her personality. I am also needing to find a new home for this sweet girl because our family is going to be relocating out of state and it looks like we may be renting for the first year having multiple dogs which we have makes it much harder to do so. My oldest daughter was going to take ZuZu into her home but unfortunately due to work schedule her home isn't really fit for a dog at this time. So hence I am chose to go public and see if I can find her a wonderful, loving home she deserves. ZuZu is a very sweet dog, she is spayed and I can have her vaccinations updated before she leaves if someone would choose to. She is a dog that loves to be loved on, pampered and even enjoys a moment to be just silly . She currently lives in a home with 3 male dogs and gets a long great with them. She has not been around cats, although we do have barn cats, she has viewed from afar, so I do not know how she would react with a cat , I think she may do fine once boundaries are set up and she knows what is acceptable behavior. My son has parakeets and the one loves to harass ZuZu ride around on her head and groom her, she tolerates his attention quiet well. So I would like to believe she would do the same with other critters once she has been introduced to them. ZuZu is a soft girl who needs very little correction, a simple' uh, uh 'and she is more than happy to cease whatever is she was doing. A Raised voice or any loud correction will just break her heart. She does have some anxiety, she is scared of thunderstorms and very loud noises such as fireworks, but she is very manageable with these. Just leave her be and she will seek out a place to hide such as a desk , table or maybe your lap until it has passed. ZuZu also needs to be crated when she is going to be left alone. She isn't destructive at all in fact she would just sleep the day away but the reason for crating is because she will urinate in the house if left loose. She usually seeks out a place hidden not wanting to be found. I don't know if it is due to some mild anxiety or possibly a side effect of being spayed as a puppy we had no problem with this, but as an adult unfortunately we do. She does crate reluctantly but make her all comfy and something to chew on and she will be just fine. I would prefer someone with a fenced in yard (though I will consider one that isn't if it's the right home) because the call of the wild will once in awhile call ZuZu if she is loose, we live on 5 unfenced acres and for most part she is kept on a tie out when outside because of that...to run is not her first thought, most times she has a wonderful recall but once in awhile she just gets the want to run..can't say I blame her..so much to see. If someone had a doggie door into a fenced area, she may not need to be crated while gone but otherwise I definitely would crate . Outside of those few things, she really is a good girl..I don't know how she would be in a home with small children as my are all grown now. I think she would do fine with older children for sure . She has never shown any type of aggression with any of us and she would be more apt to remove herself from a room or person she was uneasy with over bite. She really is just a little softy. ZuZu has been a very healthy girl, travels okay in a car, not her favorite thing, has boarded in the past and did wonderful. If you are someone that likes to run and wants a partner I think she would love to join you. I know I am throwing a lot out here, but I want to be as honest and upfront with as much as possible. What I really want is to find ZuZu a wonderful home, where she is loved, where she is happy and home that really fits her lifestyle and personality. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and I will be more than happy to answer them the b (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in Ohio
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
