Rescue Me ID: 15-03-16-00294Minnie (female)
Minnie is my loving, energy filled, protector. I have had this girl since she was six weeks old when I found her stray in the Short North during a major snow fall. She is just the sweetest fluff ball you will ever meet. She is the first one up in the morning trying to get you to take her on her morning walk, or should I say run. lol She is also the first one to greet you when you get home from a long day at work. She loves to play, she seems to have endless energy, and yet she has no problem cuddling on the couch with you when it is just too muddy to play outside. If cuddling isn't an option at the moment she loves to play tug o war with her toys, or my socks. She always wins! Minnie is completely up to date on all vaccinations and is housebroken. As for training, she knows sit, stay, potty, bed and her all time favorite...cookie! Cookie is a guarantee. lol I have recently accepted a job offer to work on a cruise ship and since they don't allow animals on the ship, it breaks my heart that I have to rehome her. From previous experiences with other animals, mostly dogs that she has gotten in to fights with, Minnie does need to go to a home with NO animal as she is very dominant and is just very protective of her person and her property. As for kids, ideally there wouldn't be any small children in the home, under 10, because of her size. She thinks she's a Chihuahua playing around, not a 60lb Retriever mix. She would also need to go to a home with a fenced in yard do to all the excess energy that she has to burn each day. At the end of the day, I want whoever adopts her to love her and know that adopting Minnie is adopting a friend for life. This dog is loyal to a fault! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-18-00521Sheba (male)
Sheba came to us from Summit County Animal Control. Her owners surrendered her, pregnant, and heartworm positive. This poor girl was left outside for four years. She had her puppies on February 8th, and will be ready to go to a forever home in April when her puppies go home. She is learning to be a good indoor dog!

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-10-00201Angel (female)
Angel has had a very rough beginning. She was one of five pups that where born to a feral mother in a dump in southern Kentucky. She and her litter where captured and they came to us here in Ohio. Angel was by far the most terrified of her siblings but we found her a home with an experienced adopter! Unfortunately that ended up being a little to much for the adopter to handle and Angel ended up being surrendered back to us after a 19 day stint where she had run from the house and was missing in the frigid winter weather. Her rescuer ended up taking her home, after finding her and falling in love with her! The home is perfect! Two other dogs and a full time stay at home mom. The problem is the three children who are very little. Although Angel does not show any aggression towards them at all she is super terrified of all the activity and noise. She needs a home with a calm and quiet feel, no small children but certainly other dogs who she can identify and find comfort with as she does her current puppy siblings! She has been around cats and is not at all aggressive towards them or other dogs. She really is a sweet girl! She needs someone who is a stay at home who can make sure she is going out to potty on a regular schedule but her potty training is coming along beautifully!! After her long time running on her own when she was lost she did lose a significant amount of weight so she has not been spayed yet because we need to get a healthy weight back on her but it is contracted that she will be spayed before she is one year old! She is just shy of 6 months old now. She is beautiful and wants so much to trust the calm, quiet adults in her life but the children are just to scary!! She has never tried to bite or nip she just runs and hides and sometimes will potty out of fear! Can you be the quiet, calm, loving person who Angel grows old with?? (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
