Rescue Me ID: 16-01-26-00353Lassie (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Very sweet and gentle little 30 lb golden mix; 2-3 years old, fully vetted and undergoing slow kill treatment for her heartworm. Completely house broken, crate trained and quiet. Loves to cuddle, play with toys, great on a leash and loves car rides. Has done very well with my dogs here and plays with them but possibly may need to be the only pet due to a prior incident while in foster care where she had an incident with the resident dog. Hoping this was a one time thing as I have seen zero aggression in this girl. Lassie has had a rough start in her young life, and has the saddest eyes and face, but is really a happy girl, and the most ... (Read More)loving couch potato. We spend many hours cuddling together and watching tv. She would be the absolute perfect companion for a mature senior-asks for so very little and loyal to a fault. She does have a distinct and apparent fear of all men in general . This is usually indicative of a dog that has been abused severely in the past. Although we've been working on this with her, and exposing her to social outings that include males, we have seen no improvement in her fear issues. So, she'd be best placed in a female only home, unless the male can be infinitely patient. She is not aggressive to men, but petrified of them.Adoption application, vet and professional ref, home check and small rehome fee all apply to adopt her to an indoor home only. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-04-00401Simon (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

SIMON is a 5 year old Golden Retriever/ Lab mix male who would love to spend his adult years in a safe, loving home. He has been vetted, vaccinated and neutered. He weighs 60 pounds. He tested positive for heartworm but has successfully completed the treatment needed to rid him of heartworms. He has gotten along fine with other female dogs at his foster home and he passed his cat scan. He showed no aggression toward his foster's cat. He does seem interested in passing cars and might want to chase them, so he should be kept in a fenced yard or on a leash when outside. His foster says that he is pretty good on the leash. If you live ... (Read More)in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Simon if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue to cover at least some of the cost of the veterinary care he has received and a microchip. (Less)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

My shelter name is Jack. I am about 3 years old and I'm Prancer's brother. Prancer has already said it all. We wondered off together and ended up at the shelter. We managed to see a lot on our adventure though :). Come to the shelter and see us! We don't have to go to the same family, I just want my brother to be happy and I know he wishes the same for me! Jack is currently going through some basic obedience training at The Noble Correctional Institute. When he graduates he will be leash, crate and house trained. He will also know a few basic commands. Jack's adoption fee will be $175

PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in Ohio
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
