Rescue Me ID: 16-11-15-00084Chloe (female)
Chloe was born about June 18, 2014 and will probably top out in the 75 lb. range, but perhaps more as she matures. She is FLUFFY! Don't like dog fur on your clothes or fur bunnies under your furniture? Well, then this girl isn't for you. She's been very sweet with all of us and she's been wonderful with the other dogs, even small dogs. She is also good with cats. Chloe is a lucky girl we had just one more crate that fit her perfectly! Update: Chloe did find a home for 4 months, but they couldn't keep her from jumping a 4' chain link fence so she is back. We have not had a problem with our 5' livestock wire nor the 6' chain link, she seems perfectly happy. She is good with cats and was fine with the infant child and toddler. Chloe is fine in the car. She is extremely human motivated and thinks she should be a lap dog. She pulls on leash and should probably have a gentle leader type/harness devise to help with this issue. Apparently she also jumped on the counter...not sure of circumstances, but it's possible she has not been in a house much in her past life. She will need a crate when left alone and probably a sturdy one, she's a big girl! Chloe has growled at a few men on introduction, guessing that comes from her past life too. She has never offered to bite so if this behavior is treated properly (you should probably take her to a good training class) it should diminish with time and trust of one man after another man after another. |Rescue Me ID: 16-10-18-00064Zero (male)|
ZERO IS A COURTESY POST WITH ONE OF OUR SISTER RESCUES This is Zero. This little hunk has missed out on the life he deserves thus far, but all that has now changed. He still bears some residuals from his previously life, as he had severe flea dermatitis and you see where his hair along his back is still growing back in, but he's a happy and lovable boy and so adorable that you smile every time you see him. Even this video doesn't look like him to me, he's that much cuter in person. He's good with other dogs and loves people. He's only about 35lbs and just sheer perfection. He is good with other dogs and cats and loves to play catch. He is crate trained, neutered, and UTD on vaccines. He is currently being fostered in Middletown, NY. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-05-00170Josi (female)
Oh my, what became of my life? Josi was born about September 16, 2004 and weighs about 75 lbs., it's rather hard to tell right now as there is so much fur which we'll be managing to improve...somehow. This poor elder lady was left in a home just filled with cockroaches to the point that the finders of the dog took her to a car wash to bathe her since the roaches and their eggs are likely to be in so much fur. Her owner ended up in a nursing home and won't be coming back so Josi came to live with us for awhile so we can find another, compassionate, home for her. She is sweet as anyone can be and is good with other dogs and cats alike. She did well on her two hour car ride here and we are told if she is off leash she will hang around with you. She loves attention and affection and you will be the person she waits for at the other end of the Rainbow Bridge! She is, somewhat, lame in the back so supplements and, perhaps, pain killers will be in her future. She looks just a mess right now and the sadness shows in her eyes. We want to find someone that will make them sparkle again!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-01-00671Chance (male)
Chance is a great young medium-sized lab mix - we estimate his age at about 2 years. He is a friendly, energetic and fun-loving boy. Chance loves to play with other dogs and is super friendly to everyone he meets including children of all ages. We think Chance would do well in a home with a canine sibling to play with. Chance knows sit, down, give paw, and walks nicely on leash; he's a smart boy who is eager to learn. He will need a refresher course on potty training once in his new home and we strongly encourage using a crate for this. Chance shows great potential for therapy work as well. We recently witnessed him interact with a young, shy girl at an adoption event. He instinctively knew she was a little nervous, so he laid down and slowly crawled towards her and then he put his chin on the ground and waited for her to pet him. Come meet him today, you won't be disappointed! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-30-00301Diamond (female)
Diamond is a beautiful 5 year old female Shar-Pei mix who came to the shelter because her owner passed away. Diamond has had a tough life. She was overbred and neglected but is still very sweet. She would do good in a home with kids 10 years and older. Diamond may be good with other dogs but not with cats. For more information please contact 845-354-7900

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
