He deserves a home with people who shower him with attention and love. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $275. We require a fenced, not electric, yard to adopt.

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-09-00371Meeko (male)
My name is Aubrey Kirch and my husband and I are desperately seeking help for someone to adopt our 4 year old Great Pyrennees named Meeko. We rescued our now 4 year old Great Pyrennees when he was 9 months old, and he is an incredible dog. However soon after we rescued him he developed strong territorial / aggression behavior in our home. Over the past few years we have adjusted our lives based on his needs, and we have paid several aggression specialists to try and work with him. We also paid for several medical tests to determine if it was a medical problem, which it is not - he is the picture of health. We have learned that he is simply a territorial aggressive dog, who unfortunately was not socialized at all before we rescued him, which further influences his territory aggressiveness. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant, and we are going to be moving back to California to be with my family. Given the circumstances we can no longer keep our dog as we know we could not have family come over to our home and help, and also I am very nervous about him being around a newborn. Our dilemma is that we do NOT feel comfortable just giving him up to a shelter. He is too unique of a dog to try and place him with just anyone - and we do NOT want him getting placed into a home, then continuously getting put back in the shelter because of the person not knowing his behavior. Meeko is an AMAZING 100 pound ball of white fur, and a loving companion. He is perfectly well behaved in the home with us, he is a cuddler, and has impeccable manners with his commands and is crate trained. He has NEVER had an accident in the house or in his crate since we rescued him - I really cannot stress how great of a dog he is, and he has been extremely loved in our household. My husband and I travel quite a bit, and we have successfully boarded him at several different places. He gets along well with dogs (OUTSIDE the home) and seems to love playtime with them. He is timid and fearful around new humans, but he typically keeps to himself and simply avoids contact with them when he can. :) We have never had issues in the MANY times we have boarded him at multiple places - for as long as a 9 night stay. We envision him loving being a companion with someone who is an older single or couple, who has land that he can roam (but he does also love being an inside dog and being spoiled!). Ideal candidates will know how to handle territory aggressive dogs, and understand the patience required in training and working with him. It is a REQUIREMENT that any potential candidates do not have cats (or any other small animals) and have teenage children at least (absolutely no young children). We are trying to not be selfish, as we know if we keep him his life will be constrained to a crate the majority of the time with a baby coming and with so many family members coming to our home in California. He truly is an amazing dog - we just need to find him someone who will see that side of him, who has patience, and who is experienced with dogs (preferably someone who has handled territory aggressive dogs). Please contact me SERIOUS and QUALIFIED inquiries only. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-08-17-00300Buddy and Daisy (male)
Sadly, these two lifelong siblings are living in boarding in SC right now. Their elderly owner became ill and is no longer able to take care of them. They need a NY/tri-state area FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME ASAP. Buddy, the golden pooch, and Daisy, his black sister, are 7 year old, Lab/Golden mixes who need one home where they can stay together. They are very attached to each another and have a very special bond. Our friends in SC say Daisy (45lbs) and Buddy (69lbs) are two of the sweetest, most loving and friendly dogs they have ever met. Despite being on the more 'mature' side, Daisy and Buddy are both still very fun and energetic. They need a home with a fenced yard because they love to run and play outside. Both are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Our adoption fee is $275. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-31-00395Shaddow (male)
He is a loving dog who wants to be around people. He has been with us since a puppy. Still wants to play. Was injured a few years ago and had surgery to repair shoulder, so stiffer now getting up. Has lived in country and use to running. I am divorced now and will be traveling and initially living in a 5th wheel travel trailer. He is not leashed trained, so would not be ideal in an apartment or no place to run. Would not do well long-term in campgrounds. I need to find him a good home.

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-30-00301Diamond (female)
Diamond is a beautiful 5 year old female Shar-Pei mix who came to the shelter because her owner passed away. Diamond has had a tough life. She was overbred and neglected but is still very sweet. She would do good in a home with kids 10 years and older. Diamond may be good with other dogs but not with cats. For more information please contact 845-354-7900

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
