Hi I'm Moose and I am a laid back giant! I am a 4 and half year old pointer mix. The volunteers tell me my long haired coat is so fluffy and soft to touch! All I know is it keeps me warm on cold days! Even though I'm a large dog, I walk well on leash. You will not get any crazy leash pulling with me. I simply walk calmly and do not need a lot of exercise despite my size. I get along pretty well with most dogs. Recently, I walked side by side with a female dog at the shelter. It was so nice to go for a relaxing stroll. That being said, I'm not an overly playful pooch and prefer dogs who respect my right to relax! If you have another dog, please bring him so we can see if we are a match made in heaven! While I like affection, I prefer to take it slowly. Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming for me if people try too much too fast with me. As a result, I'd prefer a house without very young children. However, I'd do great in a house with older children or adults who respect a guy's right to chill out! If you are looking for a large dog who enjoys a slow-paced life, then please come down to meet me! ************************************************ The Rescue Me! system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Thank you! (Less)

Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in New Jersey if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
