Rescue Me ID: 16-08-15-00243Rodney (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Hi there! My name is Rodney, and if you are looking for a loving, settled-in-his-ways Golden Retriever, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I am six years old, and 80 pounds of quiet, gentlemanly love. I am potty trained, pretty good on a leash (though I do love to give squirrels a run for their nest!), and am happy to relax on my dog bed or couch so I don't need to be crated when my people leave me home while they go run errands or to that place they call 'work.' I would ... (Read More)love a calmer home with no small children to just relax...I don't think I had the best 'past life' before Fetching Tails saved me, so I even though I love to cuddle on my mommy, I am still getting used to being pet and flinch a bit when my foster parents first touch me. It would be amazing to have a patient human adult or two to show me kindness and let me know that being pet and spoiled is the best feeling ever! I bark a bit when meeting new dog friends on walks, but I get along fine with my foster brother Oliver, who is a Lab and big like me. I also really enjoy carrying my favorite squeaky toys around with me everywhere I go; they are so much fun to play with! Foster mommy says I can be a bit stubborn and will 'put on my doggie breaks' when she wants me to go somewhere I don't want to go, but like I said, I am a distinguished gentleman and know what I want! And I am also a pretty handsome guy, too, if I can be so humble. My foster mom saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where I was brought in with a weird haircut (someone shaved off my beautiful coat...who would do something like that?) Just ignore it because when my hair fully grows back I will have the long, lustrous gold locks that make all the other doggies swoon over us Golden Retrievers! If you think I could be the wonderful middle-aged pup for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation as soon as possible! I cant wait start my happily ever after with you! If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements(No exceptions): *Be at least 21 years of age *Lives in 50 mile radius of Itasca within the Illinois border *Training is required for any of our young puppies *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Adoption Fees: Senior dog - 8 years and up, $75 Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 Puppies - under 6 months, $350 (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in Illinois
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
