After a 96 hours hold (less if they ... (Read More)were surrendered by their owners) once they enter the shelter they become URGENT. They need adopters or they will succumb to euthanasia. Remember - dogs in the shelter are often stressed or scared. It's a frightening place to be. They may not always show well - please don't pass them by - give them a second chance at life! These dogs need someone to open their heart and their home to him. The shelter is very high and fast kill due to the amount of owner surrenders and strays in that area. So many adorable dogs are losing their lives every day at this shelter. You may wish to phone the shelter prior to driving to check current availability. We courtesy post these animals to help give them exposure in hopes of finding an adopter.     My name is Skipper I am 4 month old neuter male and just got my 2nd Dhpp vaccine. I am a very loyal, loving, calm little guy . My foster mommy can't believe how good I am, seeing as how i'm a young pup and all. I get along great with dogs and humans of all sizes, and I just hug you when you cuddle with me. I could cuddle with you all day long if you wanted. I am very bright and have real potential to be pretty amazing if I am taught right. It probably has to do with my mix. I am half golden and half Labrador. My foster mommy says I have an amazing spirit. She smiles every time I walk into the room. I'm house trained and crate trained as ... (Read More)well . Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Zoey! Zoey is an adorable dachshund mix. The family surrendering her in the Moreno Valley area said the father was a purebred dachshund and the mom a golden retriever mix, but this pup looks all doxie and maybe a little basset to us. These pictures do not do her long lowrider body justice, she is beyond adorable and so soft and squishy. Zoey was born on December 29, 2013, and rescued along with her brother Simon on April 6, 2014. Zoey weighs 13 pounds. Her adoption donation or $150 includes her spay surgery, AVID microchip, vaccines and a puppy dewormer. If you would like to meet Zoey or her brother Simon, apply at ... Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

We rescued Rango from an abusive home to keep him out of the animal shelter. He has pretty bad separation anxiety. He needs people with him all the time. When alone he will bark and/or chew until his people return, unless he is crated. We van not keep him as our neighbors have threatened him and us due to his barking while I am at work. He is a good loving and very smart dog and I dont want to see him put down because he is afraid to be alone. He is potty trained, crate trained, great with our five cats and our senior dog. He is good with our young daughter. He loves walks, car rides loves to fetch and if you tell him 'I can't reach it' he ... (Read More)will put the toy in your hand. He is a big boy 80 pounds. (Less)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Arthritis

For Holden, a 9 year old Golden Retriever/Lab(?) mix, things changed dramatically when his owner died, and the owner's wife went into assisted living. He is housetrained, alert, and active, but like many of us seniors, he's got some arthritis which makes stair climbing difficult. If your flat is flat, Holden could use some cuddling--he's been in boarding trying to find a home. Contact: adopt@rocketdogrescue.org to fill out an adoption application.

Hi we are EMMIE & ELI, 8 weeks old Lab/Golden Retriever Mix puppies looking for a forever home. EMMIE is the female fluffy one in front, ELI is the male shorthaired behind. Our mom and we were rescued from the street. We are happy, playful, sweet, smart and loving puppies, that is how our foster mom describes our characters. Best match for us would be a family with school-aged children and a fenced yard to run and play or exercise in. Please email or call for a meet and greet if you feel one of us is the match for your family. Yours, EMMIE & ELI Terms for Adoption: Our dogs are located in Southern California. Cooper will be going through a training program soon and if you were to adopt him we would provide you with the resources to continue training. Cooper can be very dominant with other dogs so he is still learning how to be social around them. He likes to mount them right away so we are teaching him that isn't okay.     Puppa was a rescue dog at about 6 months of age. He was slightly aggressive, and was found wandering the streets. We took him in and he has always been our only dog. He is playful with our children and with me and my hubby. We've worked with him to make him okay with us and he has turned out to be an excellent watch dog of our house and children. We loooooooooove him soooooooo much, but we cannot keep him due to a move under extreme financial hardship. He is so loving and I know he could be great with other dogs and people if someone could work with him. Please please please adopt Puppa!!!!

Animal ID: Stevie-RaeStevie-Rae (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Stevie Rae was rescued from a High Desert shelter, where she had ended up as stray. When no-one came to claim her we took her in to our rescue, but even we were shocked at how thin she was when she was transported to our Vet's. Being a Golden Retriever blend she should be at least 50-lbs, yet she weighed in a a mere 23-lbs. We immediately had our Vet start testing to find out what was going on with her, when she was quickly diagnosed as diabetic. She was hospitalized on IV fluids and supportive care while working out her insulin need for about a week. During that time she gained a whole 1-lb in weight! She can now relax and enjoy ... (Read More)some good food and start slowly putting on some much needed weight while she relaxes in her foster home. Stevie's blood work came back stellar, no kidney or liver issues at all, just diabetic...... Stevie-Rae is very gentle. She is an expert at navigating her surroundings and likes nothing more to chill out and relax in the sunshine. Stevie gets two insulin injections a day and other than that she is pretty easy going maintenance-wise. Stevie-Rae is a true lady and gets along well with everyone....Will you be the one to give this girl a furever home?     Zoe is a sweet mature girl and is about 7 years old. She is happy, healthy, and low maintenance. She is potty trained, well-behaved, rarely barks and enjoys her walks. She doesn't jump on the furniture or on people, nor does she chew anything. She gets along with other dogs and she's gentle with young kids. She doesn't even shed, what a perfect dog! She spends most of her time sleeping at your feet, following you around the house and she'll occasionally put her head in your lap to show affection. PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in California
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
