Animal ID: DR-002Snowflake (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Snowflake and a companion pup were dumped in the desert to die. Found only by chance as recreational motor bike riders saw the pups dehydrated and starving in the desert sun. We were able to assist in the rehab of these pups, taking on two of these miracle pups. We believe the pups are a mix of Golden Retriever and other breeds. If you are a family with the time and commitment to work with this pup, show him that humans can be kind and begin the kind of training that can make this pup a valued and loved family member.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-27-00283Jasper (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jasper is a 4 years young, altered male Retriever mix dog. He grew up with another small dog in a small apartment where his Mom worked 18 hours a day. He was crate trained and to my knowledge was left in the crate during that time. He came to us a little overweight, lazy, skittish and sad. VERY quickly he came out of that shell! Jasper immediately took to our two medium and small female dogs and was immediately friendly with us. Jasper has been with us for over a month now, and has proven to be a delightful gentle giant. He weighs around 90 lbs and has lost some of his lazy chub on the long walks we take him on. He is quickly getting into ... (Read More)shape and LOVES walks! He definitely likes a schedule that includes long walks and will let you know if you've forgotten. In fact he has this clever way of letting you know exactly what he wants by pacing and 'talking' to you. He does extremely well on a leash and for such a large dog, is surprisingly easy to control. We've learned that Jasper likes playing fetch, playing with toys and other dogs, getting brushed, treats, cuddling on the bed and he actually doesn't mind a good bath either! Jasper has a very mellow disposition, in fact he is probably the sweetest most gentle dog we've ever encountered. He will even take a treat out of your hand in the most gentlest and careful of ways, only after it's offered. Jasper is housebroken and will let you know when it's time for him to go out with his pacing and 'talking'. Jasper also follows a few basic commands. Now I mentioned this 'talking' he does, please don't confuse this with nuisance barking as he is not a barker. In fact people will walk past the house alarming our other dogs to bark and he just sits on watch calmly. He does this funny rolling, purring sound with a little high pitched bark when you talk to him, like he's talking back to you. He'll even do the whole head tilt like he's understanding you! We know he's great with other dogs and people, after a proper meeting. We do not know how he is with children or cats. He seems rather cautious around children and people who just walk up to him and this is with good reason. His past owner had no children. With proper introductions he should be fine. Being he is a large dog, a home with older children would be best, so's he does not accidentally knock them down. I have no doubt with proper training and introduction his comfort level will rise. As with cats, well he doesn't chase after them or pay much attention to cats or squirrels on walks. That's all I can share on that topic. Jasper would work out best with a family of more than one person and a house/yard of decent size that can give him the attention and space he deserves. With that said, Jasper is the biggest cuddle bear you'll ever meet! Given the opportunity he will jump up in bed with you and cuddle against you like a giant furry body pillow. Granted if you don't want him on a bed or any furniture he easily takes the command to get down and quickly understands that is not the place for him. Jasper will give big kisses if welcomed, show all sorts of loyal excitement when you come home from work and will be your best friend for life! http://www.facebook.com/PicklePantsRescue Please feel free to e-mail: Karen: picklepantsrescue@gmail.com Jessica: flawlesimpurity@yahoo.com for more adoption info.     PROTECTIVE SHEPHERD/LAB MIX RESCUE DOG How Our life began with our sweet dog 'Crash': In 2010, after Thanksgiving, driving on the I-5 Freeway & approached a 3 car accident. We also noticed at what looked like a tumbleweed, rolling towards of our truck. Stopping quickly, we realized the tumbleweed was a little puppy. As we pulled over no one seemed to know where she came from. So, we decided we should take the puppy home as she curled shaking in my arms. We drove the rest of the way home and the puppy gave me lots of kisses. When we got home I gave her a bath and some food. She was hungry! I took her to the vet the next day and the vet ... (Read More)told me, 'She is one lucky puppy to survive that crash! She only has a sprained foot, but is healthy!' They checked her to see if she had a mciro chip or owner and there was none. The vet said it looked like she had been outside on her own for quite awhile & was about six weeks old. It was then that my husband & I decided to keep her. We had her micro chipped & had all her vaccinations updated. We had to think of a good name for her. We decided to name her Crash! Because she caused the car crash! I felt so happy and proud to have saved Crash from the road &now Crash is part of our family! It was also about at the time that we had learned that I was 4 moths pregnant, due in June and we had another and 1 %BD year old dog named Chloe. Chloe & Crash bonded and became instant playmates. Chloe was defiantly the dominant dog of the house, letting Crash know when she needed to bark at strangers at the front gate. We walked them every night around the neighborhood, went to the dog parks in town, and on the weekends went to dog beaches around the county. They both loved to chase balls and swim out in the water to catch the balls. They also slept with us in our bed every night. The only signs of anxiety we saw in Crash was when we drove in the car and passed large trucks or drove on the freeway as she would craw as far as she could under the backseat of the car, shaking uncontrollably. After a few minutes, when the trucks had passed she would sit back up on the seat and let her head out the window to feel the wind. Upon the birth of our son, both Chloe & Crash bonded with him instantly and let him crawl all over her, ride her like a horse, and gave him kisses all the time Upon the birth of our daughter, they were both just as loving as they were with our son. We took the both dogs on camping trips, 5 mile trips around Miramar lake, trips to the Colorado river with rides in the platoon boat. They were both left at home during the weekdays while we were gone at work without any incidents or any complaints from the neighbors. Everything changed the morning of Tuesday May 1st, 2012. We woke up in the morning, with everything as typical as we would notice- both dogs asleep in the bed with us. Chloe was up by our heads and Crash at our feet. I noticed Chloe taking very shallow breaths. When I got out of bed, I called to her, but she did not move. I carried her off the bed and she collapsed on the floor. I called to my husband- we need to take her to the vet now! Thank goodness there was Emergency ER for Vets/Pet Surge just about a mile down the road that we cared for & trusted enormously. My husband took her to the vet, while I stayed home with Crash and our little boy. About 10 minutes later I received a call from my husband from the vet ER, he said that I needed to come right away- our 3-year-old girl Chloe was dying & there was nothing we could do.I loaded up my son to rush to the ER. We were able to say goodbye as they took her off the ventilator. Crash seemed lost without Chloe. She would whine in bed at night. As the months went on, she became more aggressive toward people walking by the front gate, jumping up & consistent barking. When visiting friends' houses, we noticed she would target certain children & bark in their faces when they approached her. At the time, I also became pregnant for the 2nd time with a baby girl & we were also selling our house. When Crash was alone in the house with just the family, she was the perfect cuddly dog who loved Nicholas crawling all over her & my parents visited often and she had a fondness for my father. However, when we would have large family parties, she would target those family members that she did not know very well, sometimes leaving vague warning scratch marks from her teeth when going to bite them. She would not draw blood, but could if she had wanted to.It was at this time in the summer of August 2012, that we decided we needed to provide certified dog training. We decided on Snug Pet Resort in Sorrento Valley. In discussing with the head manager 'Toni' & Yelp's highest rated trainer 'Josh' who she decided would be best for Crash. One of the main problems we spoke to both Toni and Josh about was Crash's aggression with certain strangers and children. See more of CRASH'S story through my email -I AM @ MAX CHARACTERS~ (Less)

My name is Chris and my wife Jeannie and I have the absolute worst task right now,,,we must rehome our precious Carly, half golden retriever, quarter skipperke and quarter chihuahua and she looks like a mini yellow lab. We are in tears about it! She has become aggressive with our 6 y.o. mini doxie. I know aggressive dogs are hard to place, but this little girl is the sweetest, most lovable dog to everyone except Tuck. She is great with kids, men, women and bigger or same size dogs. She will cuddle with you, sleep with you, lick your face and love you unconditionally. She can run like the wind! She is, of course, spayed, chipped, ... (Read More)vaccinated and well trained. Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Stevie Rae was rescued from a High Desert shelter, where she had ended up as stray. When no-one came to claim her we took her in to our rescue, but even we were shocked at how thin she was when she was transported to our Vet's. Being a Golden Retriever blend she should be at least 50-lbs, yet she weighed in a a mere 23-lbs. We immediately had our Vet start testing to find out what was going on with her, when she was quickly diagnosed as diabetic. She was hospitalized on IV fluids and supportive care while working out her insulin need for about a week. During that time she gained a whole 1-lb in weight! She can now relax and enjoy ... Stevie gets two insulin injections a day and other than that she is pretty easy going maintenance-wise. PIease Read Before Adopting a Golden Retriever in California
Golden Retriever Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Golden Retriever is a gundog that loves the water. Originally bred for hunting, Goldens make wonderful family pets. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, patient, gentle, and excellent with children. Goldens are eager to please and respond very well to obedience training. Goldens make good watchdogs but are far too friendly with everyone, from strangers to other dogs, to be used as guard dogs. Goldens need human companionship. They can get into trouble if neglected. This breed is suitable for homes with yards, and needs plenty of brisk daily exercise.
